発端はトランプ大統領のスティーブ・ウィトコフ特使が、イランは発電用であってもウラン濃縮能力を全く持ち合わせていないと主張したことだった。その後、ウィトコフ特使は公の場での立場を変え、再び同じ発言をしたため、トランプ大統領がそれに同調した。
もしこれが「越えてはならない一線」であるならば、この合意は破棄され、ネオコンは米国によるイランへの戦争を開始する可能性が大いにある。
また本日、トランプ大統領はトーマス・マシー議員が「大きく美しい法案」で巨額の債務増加に疑問を呈していることを激しく非難した。
