Kerry likens Uganda anti-gay law to anti-Semitism and apartheid | Reuters

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednesday likened new anti-gay legislation in Uganda that imposes harsh penalties for homosexuality to anti-Semitic laws in Nazi Germany or apartheid South Africa.

"You could change the focus of this legislation to black or Jewish and you could be in 1930s Germany or you could be in 1950s-1960s apartheid South Africa," Kerry told a group of reporters. "It was wrong there egregiously in both places and it is wrong here," he added.

ケリー米国務長官は、ウガンダのムセベニ大統領が署名した同性愛行為を厳罰化する法案について、ナチス・ドイツの反ユダヤ主義や、南アフリカで続いたアパルトヘイト（人種隔離）になぞらえて批判した。

ケリー長官は記者団に対し、「ウガンダで起こっていることは非人道的だ」とし、ＬＧＢＴ（性的少数者）の権利は人権であり、この法案への署名は道徳的に間違っていると述べた。

また、「同性愛者への反対活動が世界各地で起こりつつあることは明らかだ。アフリカだけの問題ではない」と強調した。

ムセベニ大統領は２４日、人権擁護団体や国際社会からの批判を無視し、同法案に署名。法案では「悪質な同性愛行為」を行った場合は終身刑が科される。女性同士の同性愛行為や同性愛行為の成立への関与も違法とする。
