イギリス・ロンドンの警察によりますと、ロンドン中心部の「ロンドン橋」で29日午後、日本時間の29日夜遅く、ナイフを持った男が歩行者を次々と切りつけました。
警察はこのうち２人が死亡し、３人がけがをしたと発表しました。
男は警察の発砲を受けてその場で死亡し、警察はテロ事件として捜査を始めました。
また男は、爆発物のようなものを身につけていましたが、捜査の結果、本物ではなかったということです。
現地の日本大使館によりますと、これまでに日本人が被害にあったという情報はないということです。
現場周辺はタワーブリッジやセントポール大聖堂、それにイギリス最大級の食品市場などが集まり、大勢の観光客が訪れる地域です。
この橋では2017年６月、３人の男が車を暴走させ歩行者を次々とはねたあと、近くの食品市場にいた人たちをナイフで襲うテロ事件が起きていて、８人が犠牲になっています。
イギリスでは来月12日に総選挙が予定されていますが、今回の事件を受けて与野党の間では選挙運動を一時、見合わせる動きが出ています。

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has praised a number of citizens who helped apprehend the suspect in a stabbing attack in central London on Friday.
He said, "I want to pay tribute to the extraordinary bravery of those members of the public who intervened to protect the lives of others. For me, they represent the very best of our country and I thank them on behalf of all of our country."
About half a dozen bystanders tackled the suspect and grabbed his knife.
Police shot the suspect dead at the scene, and later declared the attack as a terrorist incident. They also said the man was wearing a fake explosive device.
In a news conference, London Mayor Sadiq Khan praised the heroism of the citizens who helped stop the suspect. He said they could not have realized the device was a hoax.
Earlier this month, Britain lowered its national terrorism threat level from "severe" to "substantial," its lowest since 2014.
London Bridge was the scene of another terrorist incident in June 2017. Three militants drove a van into pedestrians and then attacked people with knives. 8 people were killed, and dozens injured.

イギリス・ロンドンの中心部にある「ロンドン橋」の周辺で29日午後、男がナイフで歩行者を次々と切りつけました。
男は近くにいた人に取り押さえられた後、駆けつけた警察官に射殺されましたが、２人が死亡、３人がけがをし、警察はテロ事件として捜査しています。
警察によりますと、男はイングランド中部に住む28歳のウスマン・カーン容疑者で、９年前の2010年に証券取引所などを標的とした爆弾テロを企てたとして逮捕されていました。
カーン容疑者はその後、有罪判決を受けて服役していましたが、去年12月、警察が行動を監視するための装置を身につけることなどを条件に釈放されたということです。
事件を受けてジョンソン首相は「深刻な犯罪者を早期に釈放することは間違いであり、危険な犯罪者に適切な判決を与えることが重要だ」と述べ、男の釈放の判断も含め検証する考えを示しました。
一方、事件があった29日にはオランダ中部の都市ハーグでも男が買い物客を切りつける事件がありましたが、警察はテロを示す証拠は見つかっていないとしています。
